Name: Consumption
Artists: Holly Bowler

Made: 2012

This is only the start. So far this sculptural piece has only three sections. It is a work which will slowly grow over a period of years as it builds onto itself. The overlapping of separate pieces represents our slow consumption of our planets natural resources. Slowly the original structure will be lost, to represent the way we use up the planet. The idea is that over time this work will grow. As the work progresses it will change so dramatically that it will become unrecognisable; in the same way that we consume our planet, which soon will no longer be recognizable to us.

After working on the 'Consumption' piece I decided to to experiment with the idea of consumption on object. Using expanding foam I began to make some experimental work based on the visual form of humans destruction, the foam is placed on natural objects as well as imagery to represent this.
