Made: 2013

With the use of sound and movement this living breathing piece was inspired by my on-going work ‘Consumption.’ Wanting to take the work further I decided to make the sculpture come to life. This installation represents a visual form of human’s slow destruction of our planet. We have exhausted the Earth’s natural resources, and as a result we have indirectly or deliberately damaged large areas of our planet for personal growth.
Using fabric and foam tubing, with the help of fans, the fabric billows in a manor very alike to other living creatures. As well as the use of sound the piece coughs and splutters. The work consumes a globe of our world. Just like some of the decisions we make now, which will affect the life span of our planet in the future.
A visual form of environmental issues we face today.
